Walk Schedules

Trail Ratings - what to expect on the trail! All our walks are rated with a number (which indicates the amount of hill climbing) followed by a letter (which indicates the smoothness or roughness of the trail). This is to help walkers gauge the degree of difficulty of the walk. Here is a summary of the ratings. Extreme weather conditions could raise the difficulty of a route. Members and guests are required to sign a waiver before the walk. There is always a choice of 10 km or more and usually 1 or 2 shorter distances. Maps and instructions are available for each distance. There is no guarantee a walk of each distance will go ahead every time. Only occasionally has the 10 km distance not gone ahead. Before the start of the walk, walk distances are decided. Walkers tend to break into several small groups based on the distance and the speed at which they walk. No walker should walk alone. There are no designated walk leaders; groups of walkers are expected to make their own way following the maps/instructions. It is recommended that walkers be used to walking for at least an hour at a fairly brisk speed. Trail ratings and distances are available to allow walkers to decide if a walk is suitable for them in light of their own walking experience and fitness level. Part 1 - Incline 1. Very little hill or stair climbing 2. Some moderate hill or stair climbing 3. Some significant hill or stair climbing 4. A good deal of significant hill or stair climbing 5. A significant part of the walk takes place on well groomed trails with very little more difficult terrain. C. A significant part of the walk takes place on somewhat difficult terrain (rocky/rooted paths). D. A significant part of the walk takes place on very difficult terrain. E.
